There are four types of targets in the Planner application: OKR, Key Result, Initiative, and Milestone.

Type of target

Description

Example

OKR

Objective according to the OKR methodology, this is a big and ambitious goal. An OKR is to be formulated as a short sentence, understandable for the entire team. The grade for achieving this goal is measured by Key Results.

Increase system performance.

Key Result

The desired result after performing a series of actions. Reaching the result, you can understand how much the OKR is accomplished. The key result can be measured by the per cent or quantity of something.

Increase the ability for users to work simultaneously by 15%.

Initiative

A small goal or a specific action you need to do to achieve a small goal (other Initiative), Key Result or bigger goal (OKR).

Perform regression testing to identify critical errors.

Milestone

A scheduled end date is when the planned goals and results are to be achieved.

Planned release 29.03.2022.

2. Types of Relationships

In the Planner application, there are two types of links:

Type of Link

Description

Parent-Child

  • Targets become dependent on each other.

  • The change of one target leads to a change in the other connected targets.

Contribution

  • Targets are independent of each other.

  • A change in one target doesn't lead to a change in the other connected targets.

This type shows that the work for achieving common results is performed in the same area.

2.1 Parent-Child

Constraints of the parent-child relationship:

...

There are four-time dependencies:

Dependency

Description

Finish to start

The linked target must be started on the same day when the main target is finished

Start to finish

The linked target must be finished on the same day when the main target is started

Finish to finish

Both linked targets must be finished on the same day

Start to start

Both linked targets must be started on the same day

Info

When you move a target that has any time dependencies, the system moves linked targets to save the correct time dependency.

...

The Planner Gantt chart uses four colours to display the status and progress of the workflow targets.

Status Name and Color

Description

The target has progressed and it goes according to the plan

OR
