Concept of Health Map
Health map is a matrix of grouped units on a certain level of the hierarchy, which are colored by status.
Hierarchy Mapping
Health Map visually represents the hierarchical tree structure of organization units as a set of nested rectangles. Each branch, or level of the hierarchical tree represents a rectangle, which is tiled with smaller rectangles representing the sub-branches, or lower levels of the hierarchical tree.
Size of rectangles on Health Map can be configured to be proportional to any relevant parameter. It's subject to application configuration.
RAG Indication of Status
Health application provides a simple way to indicate a unit status on Health Map with a traffic-light color: Red, Amber or Green (RAG).
In general, GREEN means that unit health goes well, AMBER indicates state with known and manageable risks, and RED alerts about occurred issues or high probability of heavy loss or failure. Each color corresponds to a certain range of Health Index (see Health Status Dimension).
And the Health Map shows the color of a status set for each unit shown on the map.
Organization View
Health Map displays organization view of all company units once the root unit from the Org Hierarchy is selected:
When you change the value of any Health Map control (Status, Hierarchy, Highlights, or Show worst status), the Health map displays relevant units and the Counter recalculates its values.
Unit View
Health Map displays a unit view once a single unit from the Org Hierarchy is selected. Health Map is a part of a Portfolio Health widget. Health Map shows all the child units of the selected units. In the example below, there are no nested units as all the child units are of the same hierarchy level.
If Health Status Dimensions are configured for a unit, the radial status chart is shown below the Portfolio Health. For more details see Health Status Dimensions.
How to Use Health Map
Health map controls help to get more detailed and specific information on the Health Map.
There are four controls:
Status
Org level (Hierarchy)
Highlights
Worst status ON/OFF
Using these controls, you can get various detailed views of your portfolio. The set of available satuses and org levels is a subject of application configuration.
Choose Status
Choose Status by opening the Status menu and selecting the respective item. The Health Map represents units' status or sub-status color, in accordance with the selected perspective.

For more information about status dimensions, see Health Status Dimensions.
Choose Org Level (Hierarchy)
Adjusting Org hierarchy level by dragging the hierarchy control, you can set the required portfolio range for Health Map, from the highest through the lowest level of Org hierarchy.
Depending on the application configuration, the Hierarchy widget may differ. Widget configuration options are shown in Fig. 6 and Fig. 7
View Highlights
You can highlight units with the pre-defined events for a selected Status. There are several options: All Units, New RED, Chronic AMBER, Chronic RED, and Forecasted RED (Forecasted RED is available for Overall status only).
Pausing on any option, you can view the corresponding tooltip with information on affected units, status duration, and reporter.
List of Highlights is a subject of application configuration.
View Worst Status
If Show Worst Status is ON, the system displays the status of a unit as the worst status across all its sub-units.
If Show Worst Status is ON, the highlighting functionality is unavailable (All units are always shown).
Depending on the application configuration, the Show Worst Status widget may not be installed (Shown in Fig. 7).
Filter Units
The Show Filters setting allows you to filter units by status, name, or other options to have a more specific view of your portfolio.
To learn how to use Health Map filters, see Filters of Portfolio Health.
View Unit Tooltip
If you pause on a unit in Health Map, the system displays tooltip containing detailed information about the unit. If Health Status Dimensions are configured for a unit, the unit tooltip displays radial status chart. For more details, see Health Status Dimensions.
Example of Usage
The examples demonstrate how the Status and Hierarchy controls change the content of Health Map
Status
You can observe unit status from the different statuses. You can choose any status that is configured on the units below, and the map changes its coloration. The examples later demonstrate difference between Overall and Team Performance status.
Overall status
Colors the units on the map in Overall status color set on the units shown on the map.
Team Performance status
Hierarchy Level
You can select different levels of the org hierarchy to be presented on the Health Map. The examples later demonstrate the difference between most wide (L1-L5) and narrower (L4-L5) hierarchy ranges.
Range: Level 1 - Level 5 (full)
Range: Level 4 - Level 5
