Manage Organization Structure

This section describes how to create and edit organization structure in the TelescopeAI. The section contains explanation of terminology used in this example, and step-by-step instructions on how to create, edit, or delete hierarchical units.

Hierarchical Units of TelescopeAI

This sub-section describes hierarchical units used in the description later.

On the application level you can design any names and dependencies for units of your organization. The terms "department", "project", "stream", and their hierarchical dependencies are not mandatory.

How to Create Organization Structure

This sub-section describes how to create organization structure on the side-bar unit structure. The main principle of the creation is: Parent unit creates child unit.
To create a three-level hierarchical structure, follow the sequence of procedures 1, 2, 3.

The main principle of creation in hierarchy is: Parent unit creates child unit.

Procedure 1. Create Level 1 Unit

To create hierarchical unit of level 1:

  • Open the side-bar unit structure, and then, on the organization level 0, click the More (...) ellipsis menu.

  • On the menu, click Create PROGRAM. The Create PROGRAM dialog box opens.

  • Enter name of the department.

  • Add Key Staff members, and then click Create. 

Result: The system creates new hierarchical unit of level 1.

Procedure 2. Create Level 2 Unit

To create hierarchical unit of level 2:

  • Open the side-bar unit structure, and then, on the department level 1, click the More (...) ellipsis menu.

  • On the menu, click Create PROJECT. The Create PROJECT dialog box opens.

  • Enter name of the project.

  • Add Key Staff members, and then click Create. The system creates new hierarchical unit of level 2.

Result: The system creates new hierarchical unit of level 2.

Procedure 3. Create Level 3 Unit

To create hierarchical unit of level 3:

  • Open the side-bar unit structure, and then, on the project level 2 or lower, click the More (...) ellipsis menu.

  • On the menu, click Create STREAM. The Create STREAM dialog box opens.

  • Enter name of the stream.

  • Add Key Staff members, and then click Create. The system creates new hierarchical unit of level 3. The rule of inheritance in Key Staff assignment:
    If you add a person as a Key Staff member on the level 1, by inheritance this person appears to be a Key Staff member in all child units of lower levels. For more details about the Key Staff, see Manage Security Scheme.

Result: The system creates new hierarchical unit of level 3.

How to Edit Organization Structure

This sub-section describes how to edit a unit of any level in hierarchy.

To edit hierarchical unit of any level:

  • Open the side-bar unit structure, and then, on the respective level, click the More ellipsis (...) menu.

 

  • On the menu, click Details. The Details dialog box opens.

  • Modify the unit attributes, and then click Save.

How to Delete Organization Structure

This sub-section describes how to delete a unit of any level in hierarchy.

Deleting a parent unit, you delete all its child units.

To delete hierarchical unit of any level:

  • Open the side-bar unit structure, and then, on the respective level, click the More ellipsis (...) menu.

  • On the menu, click Delete. The Delete <Unit Name> dialog opens.

  • Click Delete Permanently. The system deletes the unit.

How to Move Organization Structure

This sub-section describes how unit move to other location in hierarchy.

Move a hierarchical unit to another location:

  • Open the side-bar unit structure, and then click the More (...) ellipsis menu.

  • On the menu, click Move to. The Move dialog pop-up opens.

  • Enter the name of the new location in the search bar.

  • Chose the suitable location for moving and click Save.

  • The unit is displayed in the hierarchy in a new location.

Result: The system moves the unit in new location in the hierarchy.
