Purpose

Items without Story Points but in Active sprints shows the number of items without story points but should be and they are included into an active sprint.

How metric helps

Items without Story Points but in Active sprints helps to highlight a situation when not-estimated items are included in an active sprint but they may be missed during a sprint planning. The expected value is equal to zero.

How metric works

Chart overview 

Chart shows the number of items without Story Points in active sprints - number in the center. Target value is above the chart.  

By click on a chart a pop up appears with the following information got from the task tracking system: 

  • Issue ID

  • Type

  • Priority

  • Summary

Calculation

Items without Story Points but in Active sprints is a number of items included in active sprints with estimate in Story Points equals to 0.

RAG thresholds: Red - metric value > 0; Green - metric value = 0. 


Assumptions

1 Metric value is calculated for today.

2 Calculation considers the latest active sprint. If there are several active sprints, metric sum ups values for all sprints. Assignment to a sprint matters.

3 Field for estimates is set in Project Settings>Data Sources>Task Tracking System>Fields mapping.

4 Issue/work item types taken into the calculation: those selected in Project Settings>Data Sources>Task Tracking System>Scope Management>Issue types to be estimated in Story Points . 

Data Source

Data for the metric can be collected from a task tracking system (Jira, TFS, Rally, etc.).
